Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Join ROM's Mark Engstrom in conversation with Tonya Wimmier of the Marine Animal Response Society as they discuss the important role this organization plays in actively engaging Canadians in the response, conservation, and welfare of some of Canada's most iconic marine animals.

Austin Clarke: Recognizing a Literary Great
Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Join us to celebrate the legacy of Barbadian-Canadian writer Austin Clarke (1934-2016). This special program will mark the unveiling of the ROM's recently commissioned portrait of Clarke by artist Neville Clarke. The event includes excerpts from Austin Clarke's works read by David Chariandy and original compositions presented by poet Canisia Lubrin and author Desmond Cole.  
 
This program will feature a 40-minute film, followed by a LIVE Q&A with Arlene Gehmacher, Neville Clarke, and Rinaldo Walcott.

Elias Sime: Art, Life, and Emotions
Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Explore the global appeal of Ethiopian contemporary artist Elias Sime’s recent works with MOMA curator Ugochukwu-Smooth C. Nzewi. By looking closely at Sime’s art, Nzewi explores how the artist’s practice is anchored in Ethiopian artistic traditions and art history while negotiating the fraught category of African art and the geopolitics of contemporary art.

Blue Whales Revisited
Thursday, July 29, 2021. Join researcher Asha de Vos in conversation with ROM curator Burton Lim as they discuss new research on blue whale populations in the Indian Ocean. Dr. De Vos presented one of the most popular keynote lectures during the 2017 exhibition Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story, and will update audiences on the work she and her colleagues have been doing in recent years.
