Elias Sime: Tightrope
"Must be seen in person to be believed" - The Globe and Mail

Contemporary Ethiopian artist Elias Sime presents his intricately woven and densely layered artworks that draw upon their materiality to comment on humanity, ecological sustainability, and the resilience of nature. The Tightrope series featuring 24 artworks, includes his work from the last decade and is the first Canadian presentation of this exhibition.

Elias Sime: Tightrope is organized by the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art at Hamilton College, Clinton, New York.

For centuries, whalebone was used for shaping Western fashion, from umbrellas and parasols to Victorian shapewear. We take a closer look at a 19th-century corset, from a time when fashion fuelled the whaling industry.
