Fall Winter 2024

New vision for a new season ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌...

March at the Museum

In accordance with the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, the ROM is temporarily closed to the public, effective November 23.

The health and safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors remains our top priority. We will continue to follow the recommendations of our public health officials and look forward to opening our doors again once it is safe and responsible to do so.
ROM at Home opens the doors to the Museum with programming - live discussions, topical Q&As, descriptive audio experiences, and behind-the-scenes videos from ROM curators and experts - all accessible through our website and social media channels.

This month, we focus on a planet in crisis. We are facing a climate emergency of catastrophic proportions, and the troubling trajectory of a planet on the edge compels us to think hard about our responsibility. While the interdependence of climate and humanity has been reflected in art and culture over millennia, deepening our understanding of the science behind climate change can help preserve the habitats and biodiversity of the natural world into the future.

Ancient mummies have been the source of public fascination and a focus of global scientific inquiry for over 200 years. Hear from British Museum researchers Marie Vandenbeusch and Daniel Antoine as they explore the ROM's special exhibition Egyptian Mummies: Ancient Lives. New Discoveries, where digital imaging was used to examine mummified remains without damaging or disturbing them.

The presentation of this exhibition is a collaboration between the British Museum and the Royal Ontario Museum.

Named literally as the "right" type of whale to hunt, the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale is at risk of extinction. Today, there are less than 100 breeding females alive. In this timely article, we explore the human threat to whales and the actions our governments are taking to protect these extraordinary animals as the ROM prepares its upcoming special exhibition Great Whales: Up Close and Personal, opening in June 2021.
ROMKids Show

Join Kiron Mukherjee, ROMKids Coordinator and Camp Director, and Dr. Sebastian Kvist, Curator of Invertebrates, as they take an ocean dive to learn all about coral reefs and the curious critters that call them home. Each video includes a craft or activity for children to enjoy.
