Fall Winter 2024

New vision for a new season ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌...

Spring Forward with ROM

In accordance with the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, the ROM is temporarily closed to the public, effective November 23.

The health and safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors remains our top priority. We will continue to follow the recommendations of our public health officials and look forward to opening our doors again once it is safe and responsible to do so.
ROM at Home opens the doors to the Museum with programming - live discussions, topical Q&As, descriptive audio experiences, and behind-the-scenes videos from ROM curators and experts - all accessible through our website and social media channels.

This month, we focus on a planet in crisis. We are facing a climate emergency of catastrophic proportions, and the troubling trajectory of a planet on the edge compels us to think hard about our responsibility. While the interdependence of climate and humanity has been reflected in art and culture over millennia, deepening our understanding of the science behind climate change can help preserve the habitats and biodiversity of the natural world into the future.
Live event
Wednesday, March 24; 4:00 - 5:00pm EST
Free on Zoom. RSVP Required.

Join Justin Jennings, Senior Curator of Latin American archaeology at the ROM, as he explores how the idea of fairness has shaped society over the last 20,000 years. Facing new challenges, people do both wonderful and terrible things in the name of fairness. Understanding how we managed past challenges can help us better navigate through today's uncertain times.

This program celebrates the publication of the new book Finding Fairness: From Pleistocene Foragers to Contemporary Capitalists.

The loon is arguably the most recognizable bird in Canada. It's on our money and deep within the iconography of our nation. With spring approaching, loons are back in season. As parks and cottages open for another year, take a moment to learn more about the birds with the haunting call and deep northern roots.
ROMKids Show

Join Kiron Mukherjee, ROMKids Coordinator and Camp Director, and Indigenous Digital Learning Support Staff Kaya John as they explore the causes behind climate change, how rising sea levels are threatening coastal communities around the globe, and what we can do to push back against this climate crisis. In the news

Deepali Dewan, Dan Mishra Curator of South Asian Art & Culture at the ROM, reflects on the life and work of contemporary artist Panchal Mansaram for Canadian Art.

"What seems clear is that for a long time, artists living and exhibiting outside of downtown cores - who have largely been artists of colour - did not have the same visibility as those in urban centres. These systemic barriers have created certain patterns of visibility and invisibility that, it seems, have only recently started to shift. Nonetheless, what I do know is that P.Mansaram is receiving recognition now not because he has finally caught up to the art world, but because we have finally caught up with him."

The ROM plays an important role as a place of discovery, learning, and escape and your support through ROM membership will help ensure our ongoing research, preservation, and curatorial work continues.

As a ROM Member, you will receive unlimited free admission to galleries and special exhibitions all year long. Plus, enjoy exclusive previews of exhibitions, advance booking opportunities, discounts, and so much more.
